Thook Jai shops officially opened to public

BANGKOK, 16 July 2012 – The government has officially opened over 5,000 Thook Jai shops throughout Thailand to the general public.

The Minister of Commerce Kittiratt Na Ranong has presided over the opening ceremony of “Thook Jai Shops” festival at Impact Arena Muangthong Thani. It is to officially present the Thook Jai shops to the general public. The event gave advices and ideas on modern retailing to those entrepreneurs who own the shops in order for them to improve and enhance their stores to a modern and stable business environment.

In addition to further supporting Thook Jai shop entrepreneurs, the Commerce Ministry has provided a call center service of 100 lines for stock ordering which is hoped to reduce unnecessary processes and for faster shipment.

The Ministry of Commerce has been accepting applications from those retail stores wishing to take part in the project since April 2; at the moment there are over 13,000 applicants, which is higher than the anticipated number of 10,000 stores, and 5,000 of those are ready for operation.

After the opening ceremony of the event, PM Yingluck has visited the event and the Thook Jai shops as well.
