BANGKOK, 6 June 2012 – The Constitution Tribunal will clarify its ruling to delay charter amendment to the public within this week due to public pressures.
Regarding the opposition to the court’s decision to put off the charter revision process, Deputy Spokesman of the Constitution Court Somrit Chaiyawong said the court’s office had not yet increased security for the tribunal judges. However, he admitted that some of the judges had expressed unease at the negative reactions against the court.
Chairman of the Constitution Court Wasant Soiphisut has instructed relevant agencies to compile information for the clarification of charter amendment-related issues which appeared in the media. Mr. Somrit said the clarification was not to fight back but to make people understand the court’s decision. The tribunal judges are expected to clarify the matter to the public by themselves some time this week.
