State-initiated shopping project heavily enjoyed by public

BANGKOK, 13 May 2012 – The government-initiated project to make cheap goods available for the public has been well-received since its inception.

It was reported that a huge crowd of shoppers, on Saturday, flocked to the check out the special project, which offers cheap consumer goods, held in front of JJ Mall in Bangkok.

The project, titled ‘Thai Co-op for Thais”, was initiated under the cooperation of the Agriculture Ministry, the Cooperative Promotion Department, the Consumer Cooperative Federation of Thailand Limited and JJ Mall.

Although the scorching heat in Bangkok might have forced a number of consumers to stay home, quite a number of shoppers reportedly showed up to take home some bargains.

The highlight of Saturday shopping was eggs from a Layer Farmer Cooperative in Chachoengsao Province, which were available at a very special price of 75 baht per tray of 30 eggs.

On Saturday alone, as many as 500 trays were snatched up in no time.

The government-initiated project to help shore up consumer burden during the time of rising prices will continue in front of JJ Mall until May 18th.
