BANGKOK, 7 May 2012 Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has instructed the Ministry of Industry to assess risks from the chemical leak last night at the Hemarat Industrial Estate in Rayong province. The affected people have been assisted.
According to the PM, the ministry will look into the incident to find out which of the leaked chemicals is flammable. The premier stated that all industrial plants must revise and check the chemicals in their facilities every three months as these precautions would be factored into the renewal of license to operate.
The PM also asked the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Interior to work together in helping people injured by the leakage.
On 6 May 2012, the chemical leak at the Hemarat Industrial Estate was reported with more than 50 injuries.
