Poll: People most content with PM after 9 months in office

BANGKOK, 6 May 2012 – Majority of people are most satisfied with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, according to a recent survey by ABAC poll.

The poll was conducted among 2,259 respondents aged over 18 in 17 provinces to find out their opinions and level of satisfaction towards individual cabinet members after 9 months in office.

Results show that among all the ministerial members, people were most content with Prime Minister Yingluck, with 64.8 %, followed by Deputy Prime Minister Pol Capt Chalerm Yubumrung (57.6 %), Tourism and Sports Minister Chumpol Silapa-archa (53.64 %), and Deputy Prime Minister Gen Yuthasak Sasiprapa (50.5 %). While the satisfactory level for the rest of the cabinet was less than 50%.

Deputy Transport Minister Chatchart Sithipan was the least known minister, closely followed by Deputy Finance Minister Thanusak Lek-uthai, said the poll.

As for an overall evaluation, the government receives 5.93 points out of 10, and 90% of the surveyed people indicated that the problem of higher priced consumer goods was factual.

38.2 % of the respondents expressed agreement to the idea of letting the 111 executive members of the disbanded Thai Rak Thai party, who are completing the 5-year political ban at the end of this month, return to political arena and take ministerial posts while 36.9 opposed such idea. 67.4 % said it was an opportune time for a cabinet reshuffle, and nearly half of the respondents were of an opinion that Jatuporn Prompan should be given an opportunity to be a minister.
