BANGKOK, 23 April 2012 – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will sell eggs at cheaper than market prices to consumers to help them shoulder the soaring household expenses.
BMA Spokesman Mr. Wasan Meewong said after attending a BMA executive meeting that the Social Development Department will coordinate with egg farmers and suppliers to bring eggs to sell directly to consumers in their communities.
The eggs will be sold from vehicles provided by the BMA which will be running through all 50 districts of Bangkok. The BMA Spokesman explained that the eggs will not be available in fresh markets as it could force egg sellers to cut their prices down to compete with the BMA’s prices.
Mr. Wasan added, however, that only a limited number of eggs will be sold to each customer as a way to prevent any hoarding of eggs.
