BANGKOK, 13 April 2012 – Thai and foreign revelers are flocking to Khao San road to celebrate the Songkran festival. The nearby famous Wat Chanasongkhram is crowded with merit-makers.

Khao San road is packed with people on Friday which marks the beginning of the Thai New Year. However, no powder and marlstone is allowed in the area this year. Apart from water splashing, there are other activities such as musical performances, traditional dances and foam parties.

Revelers also go to Wat Chanasongkhram, one of the famous nine royal temples of Bangkok, to ask for happiness and victory over all obstacles according to the temple’s lore.
