Bangkokians invited to bathe Phra Buddha Sihing on Songkran

BANGKOK, 12 April 2012 – Bangkok residents are invited to bathe Phra Buddha Sihing statue for blessings, on the occasion of the Songkran Festival, from April 12-15.

Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumband Paribatra today presided over a ceremony to respectfully invite Phra Buddha Sihing from the Phutthaisawan Throne Hall of the National Museum to be housed as the principal Buddha image at the square in front of the City Hall.

Prior to its enshrinement at the City Hall, a procession carrying the statue is scheduled to make three stops to allow Bangkokians to perform bathing rites for Phra Buddha Sihing.

The stops include Wongwian Yai intersection at 10am, Santichaiprakarn park at 1pm and Wat Chanasongkram at 2pm.

Phra Buddha Sihing will be returned to the National Museum at 3pm on April 15.
