BANGKOK, 9 April 2012 Souvenir shops along Tha Chang and Tha Phra Chan piers near the Royal Crematorium are bustling with mourners who looked for commemorative items on the cremation of HRH Princess Bejaratana.
Merchants have set up stalls along the piers to sell commemorative merchandise such as pins, shirts with mourning messages and pictures of HRH Princess Bejaratana taken on various occasions. Such souvenirs have attracted a lot of mourners coming to lay sandalwood flowers at the crematorium. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has announced that the public can place sandalwood flowers at three sites surrounding the Royal Crematorium at Saman Luang as well as 46 temples in Bangkok.
The Royal Cremation Ceremony has started since Monday morning. The symbolic royal cremation is scheduled today at 4.30 PM and the actual royal cremation 10 PM. Scores of mourners wearing black have flocked around the crematorium to show grief and loyalty for the late princess.
