National Archives to record Royal Cremation in Thai history

BANGKOK, 9 April 2012 – The National Archives, under the Fine Arts Department, is prepared to record the Royal Cremation ceremony of Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana in Thai history.

National Archives Director Sureerat Wongsa-ngiam said that the office has been keeping all of the details of the Royal Cremation. She said the records compiled will be produced into two national history books, which will be presented to Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.

The National Archives has been keeping record of the transfer of the royal body from the Grand Palace, the procession at Sanam Luang, the royal cremation ceremony, and the enshrinement of the royal ashes at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram.

It has kept the detailed record since the death of Her Royal Highness Princess Bejaratana, including other royal ceremonies. The books are expected to be completed in one year.
